The Recknagels Hotel Traube, conveniently located across the expressway from the Stuttgart airport, is a beguiling little inn. The most famous feature of the hotel is its restaurant, and the staff is understandably quite occupied with meal service at lunch and dinner. The food is exceptional and the decor worthy of multiple stars. Tables laid with soft-pink cloths, flowers, and candles are tucked under beams into cozy corners paneled in rich wood. If you’d prefer less formal dining, consider the neighboring casual restaurant, managed by the gracious son and daughter who maintain the same high standards set by their parents. The guestrooms, located far enough away from the street to be quiet, are attractive with traditional decor and comfortable beds topped with fluffy down comforters.
