We just returned from a remarkable trip to Germany and Switzerland, and one of the highlights was our visit at the Landhaus Muhle in Schluchsee. It is a beautiful historical chalet in the resort area of Schluchsee. The rooms were simple but exceptionally clean, tidy, and comfortable. We had a lovely balcony with geraniums which overlooked the little stream that runs by the hotel. But one of the best things about this hotel is the exceptionally warm welcome of the hosts. Although we were late in arriving, (it was after 9 p.m.), Katja the host was exceptionally kind and gracious. She fixed us a pot of hot chocolate and stayed to chat with us while we enjoyed it. The breakfast was delicious, the common areas were charming, and Katja was kind and accommodating. She copied off maps for us and was very helpful in advising our day trips. While we were there, they were working very hard to make improvements to the property. They are adding a sauna, which will I’m sure make this an even more relaxing and welcoming respite in the middle of some of the most beautiful country to be found! We are so glad that we discovered this beautiful hotel.
