In the middle of a beautiful valley, with mountains towering as high as 1,500 meters on either side, the medieval town of Trigance clings to a rocky spur. The Château de Trigance is found within the walls and ruins of the ancient castle that crowns the village. The restorations and extent of the work involved to prepare this 11th-century fortress as a hotel are fully appreciated after seeing the “before” and “after” photographs. At present there are ten rooms tucked behind the ancient fortress’s thick stone walls. The accommodation, recently renovated with new furnishings, décor and beautiful new bathrooms is dramatic. Embraced by the ancient stone walls, the setting and atmosphere are unique, with an authentic medieval flavor. You can even reserve a large room in the round tower that overlooks the village. The restaurant is renowned for its fine cuisine. Following in the tradition of his parents, the junior Monsieur Thomas is in charge of the hotel in its magnificent setting under the warm blue skies of Haute Provence and his personality enhances the character and attraction of this hillside accommodation. Park on the outskirts of this walled town and Guillaume Thomas will meet you. The location of the château is a perfect starting point for touring the spectacular Gorges du Verdon: Pack a picnic and spend a day driving along the canyon at your leisure.
