Karen's Review Of This Property:

Bastide Rose, snuggled in a curve of the River Sorgues, has an enchanting, fairytale setting on an idyllic little island formed by a canal that loops from the river. Having lain derelict for many years, the property was in ruins when Poppy Salinger discovered it but she could visualize its enormous potential. Madame Salinger (widow of Pierre Salinger) had traveled throughout the world and dreamed of creating an intimate hotel incorporating the best features of places where she had stayed. She is continually making improvements: the extensive landscaping and pool have been completed and the five individually decorated guestrooms and two suites are proving immensely popular. Each bedroom is personally decorated by Poppy with its own eclectic theme. Although there is a style to fit every taste, the same high quality of amenities is found throughout. This hotel is so personal that we pondered whether to put it in our bed and breakfast book—like a bed and breakfast, this is Poppy Salinger’s home, filled with her personal memorabilia and furnishings, where she pampers guests as friends. Recently, her son, Emmanuel has taken over the day to day operations and continues her tradition of welcoming guests to the Bastide. Together they have also opened a museum dedicated to, and in honor of Pierre.

...The Bastide Rose in Le Thor was another gem. This is the one run by Poppy Salinger (widow of Pierre)and her son, Emmanuel, both of whom could not have been nicer. The group dinners there were excellent and a real highlight of our trip, good food and a lot of fun, thanks to Emmanuel. Also a great location for touring Provence.
