Karen's Review Of This Property:
It is great fun to spend the night right in the heart Saint Tropez to enjoy its magic after the hordes of tourists depart, and it once again assumes its mantle of a sleepy little village. Of course, the enormous yachts moored in the harbor quickly remind you that Saint Tropez is now the playground of the rich and famous. An excellent choice of accommodation is Le Yaca, whose history goes back to 1722 when it was originally built as a private home. During the Impressionist period, it was a favorite meeting place for many famous painters. Since that time it has been “home” to numerous Hollywood celebrities including Tyrone Power, Rita Hayworth, Greta Garbo, and Orson Wells. Today, Le Yaca maintains its romantic heritage. The mood is one of understated elegance and refinement from the moment you step into the alluring lounge with its red walls and chairs upholstered in a pretty paisley fabric. A staircase with marble banister leads up to doors opening to a charming “secret” garden enclosed by high walls draped in greenery. The centerpiece of the garden is its pool, which is dominated by a tall palm tree. From the street you can’t see much of the house, but from the back you can enjoy its charm—an intimate, small villa, almost totally draped with lacy ivy, through which peek crisp white shutters.
