Karen's Review Of This Property:
La Bastide was opened in recent years right at the heart of the medieval village of Gordes, and from the distance appears to be terraced into the hillside, with its striking pool set against the old stone walls. You enter off the street into a lovely and elegant reception area. Guestrooms overlook either the valley or the village street but double-glazed windows block out any noise and in the evening there is very little traffic. Rooms overlooking the valley are priced at a premium, but some of the smaller rooms on the village side are extremely good value. All the rooms are very similar in decor with an attractive rust-and-brown fabric used throughout and some rooms are equipped with king beds (rare to find in Europe). From the entry and living room you can enjoy views from tables set narrowly on an outstretched arm of the medieval wall—an ideal spot for enjoying an evening drink. Views look out spectacularly across the valley and down to the hotel’s pool. From the terrace you can descend down a circular stone staircase to the pool and sauna and fitness room. One guestroom is located on the lower level, opening onto the lawn that stretches to the pool and enjoying lounge chairs and tables set just outside its door. Guests enjoy a delightful terrace restaurant with memorable views overlooking the valley and surrounding mountains.
