Karen's Review Of This Property:
La Régalido, converted from an ancient oil mill, is a lovely Provençal hotel, with its cream-stone façade, sienna-tiled roof, and shuttered windows peeking out through an ivy-covered exterior. Running the length of this hotel is a beautiful garden bordered by brilliantly colored roses. In the entry, lovely paintings and copper pieces adorn the walls, and plump sofas and chairs cluster before a large open fireplace. An arched doorway frames the dining room, which opens onto a verandah and the rose garden. The restaurant, with its tapestry-covered chairs placed around elegantly set tables, is renowned for its regional cuisine and its wine cellar. Monsieur Michel spends much of his day tending to the kitchen and is often seen bustling about the hotel, dressed in his chef’s attire, but is never too busy to pause for a greeting. His wife’s domain is the garden—the French say that she has a green hand instead of just a green thumb, and it shows. The bedrooms of La Régalido are very pretty in their decor and luxurious in size and comfort. About half of the rooms have terraces that look out over the tile rooftops of Fontvieille. This continues to be one of the hotels about which our readers rave. I am certain the accolades are a direct reflection of the owners and their gracious hospitality.
