Karen's Review Of This Property:

Aix is an intriguing city to explore. The cobbled streets of the old quarter are lovely to wander around and at night the illuminated tree-lined Cours Mirabeau is enchanting—reminiscent of Paris with its many sidewalk cafés. It is just a 15-minute walk from the old quarter to the attractive Hôtel le Pigonnet, run very professionally by the Swellen family. A tree-lined road leads you away from the noise and traffic of the city center to this hotel. Set in its own 2-acre garden, the Hôtel le Pigonnet is surrounded by an abundance of flowers and towering ancient chestnut trees. It was from this garden that Paul Cézanne painted the Mountain of Sainte Victoire. The hotel also has a lovely large pool, most inviting on a hot summer day in Provence. Inside are cozy sitting rooms and a large airy restaurant whose tables are set on the back patio on balmy evenings to overlook the lush expanse of garden. The hotel’s bedrooms, all with private bathroom, vary dramatically from elegant suites to attractive, standard hotel rooms. Le Pigonnet is not a country inn, but a lovely hotel with first-class accommodation and service that maintains a country ambiance and setting within the city of Aix en Provence.
