Domaine de la Rhue

The Domaine de la Rhue is exceptional, offering comfort and elegance in a beautiful country setting. Just an hour by footpath from the pilgrimage site of Rocamadour, the Domaine de la Rhue offers accommodation in converted stables in the shadow of its regal, ivy-clad château. The caring owners, Christine and Eric Jooris, first opted to farm the land but the soil was too poor so they decided to offer accommodation within the stone walls of the stables which they gutted, retaining the old character by preserving the weathered beams and implements. There are guestrooms in the main stable and a few in an outlying building, elegant in their simplicity, with fresh whitewashed plaster and rough beams complemented by fine wood furnishings and rich, muted fabrics. Two of the rooms in the stable enjoy their own entrance off the garden and a garden sitting area. Tucked off its own garden entrance, I adore room 9 with its loft beams and cozy decor in red checks. Also, what was once their private apartment is now a spacious, gorgeous guestroom, handsome with its wood furnishing and elegant soft white decor. The main room at the center of the inn sits behind large glass doors and is very inviting with various groupings of chairs set on old stone floors and warmed by a large open fireplace.
