Karen's Review Of This Property:
This charming hotel offers a wonderful location on the beautiful square and park, the Place des Vosges. Built to accommodate the wedding of Louis XIII and Ann of Austria, the park was originally inaugurated as the Place Royale. It became the heart of elegant Paris and some of its most notable residents were Madame de Sévigné and Victor Hugo who claimed the location inspired “Les Misérables.” The park was renamed in 1800 as tribute to the people from the Vosges region who were the first to pay their taxes! The Pavillon de la Reine was named in honor of the Queen when it was converted to a hotel in 1985. Set back off the Place, fronted by its own flowered courtyard, the Pavillon de la Reine was built on the site of an old pavilion and converted from a complex of individual flats, all dating from different periods. The handsome 17th century beams of the beautiful lobby are remarkably as old as the place itself. Trademarks of the Pavillon de la Reine are tasteful furnishings and, most importantly, pride and excellence of service. With every modern convenience, the hotel offers luxurious comfort and a warm decor of beamed ceilings, antiques, handsome reproductions, and beautiful art and paintings. Accommodations are expensive and offered as standard double rooms, two-level duplexes, and two-bedroom suites. The hotel has a lovely salon, and breakfast is served under the vaulted ceilings of the old cellar. Stay here and enjoy the ambiance of old-world Paris.
