Castel de Très Girard

This superlative property, recently totally rebuilt to incorporate all the modern comforts such as air conditioniung, is ideally located on a small street tucked off the D122 and separated from the D974 by an expanse of vineyard. Guestrooms are well designed and insulated from one another, bathrooms are modern, and the welcome and service, under the direction of Didier Petitcolas, are exemplary. The hotel is set behind its own stone wall and tucked into its own expanse of garden. The breakfast room is located just off the reception and a cozy salon/bar is set off the other side, with intimate sitting areas arranged on old tiles in front of a large open fire. Beyond the salon is a lovely restaurant whose tables enjoy views of the outdoor terrace, terraced pool, and surrounding scenery. Of the guestrooms, number 2 is a lovely standard room in a wash of beige, and number 1 is an apartment at the top of the first landing, tucked in the corner with windows on two sides overlooking the vineyards and front courtyard, handsomely furnished with a four-poster bed, another double bed, and a decor of rich reds and golds. I loved number 5, another apartment tucked under beams with windows set in thick walls and a decor of warm amber and golds. This is a lovely hotel and I wish them much success.
