Le Clos

Le Clos is a centrally located, well-priced hotel from which to explore Burgundy. Le Clos offers three-star accommodation in a beautifully converted old farmstead near Beaune. Stone walls and the buildings themselves enclose the complex and embrace the central graveled courtyard with its old wine press, farming implements, and old well. The main entry is gorgeous—a welcoming reception sits opposite an intimate salon and adjoining bar, all set under beams on a flooring of old stone before a large open fireplace. Breakfast is served in a very pretty room off the entry or on the quiet back terrace. There are 24 guestrooms, of which 19 are standard rooms and 5 are suites. We saw a multitude of rooms that can accommodate every need and found them all reasonably priced for their comfort and ambiance. Rooms 1 and 2 on the ground floor and rooms 11 and 12 on the second floor, for example, are set behind a common door, enjoy a private entry, and would prove ideal for a family or friends traveling together who want privacy. Room 23 is the largest, a two-story room with sitting area and a bedroom loft. All the rooms are individual in decor and handsomely decorated in fabrics specially commissioned in London.
