Le Clos de Clesse

Descrition: estate located behind the village 12th century church, large gardens with various buildings, one of which being the Bergerie where we stayed. How did we find this gem? Search the internet for Bed&Breakfast in France, Burgundy Location: ideal for south of Burgundy (near Macon, Bourg-en-Bresse), great for wine discovery (near very famous villages); the Viré-Clessé made at the village is fantastic. Rooms: see the website, the rooms are truly great: large, comfortable, very interesting. We stayed (2 adults and 2 teens) in La Bergerie. It had a main room with double bed, fire place and large sitting area, one large bath room with shower, separate wc, and the kids had a mezzanine with separate beds. Extras: comfortable heated pool, beautiful rose garden, free parking. Service: Tessy and André were great hosts, very polite. We had great discussions with them, they were both interesting and interested, provided great tips for local points of interest. They offer a table d'hôte, which we took advantage of for one night. The food and wine were excellent. We had the visit from two Belgium couples which added to the conversations (we are from Canada). Overall: great place to stay for a few nights (3-4 to visit surroundings and the village itself). I will recommend to anyone going in that area, and will try to stay there in the future if I can. The price is much less than a ***** or a **** but the comfort is right at the top, the service is personal and it beats any luxury hotel.
