Relais la Métairie

Relais la Métairie is a charming country hotel nestled in one of the most irresistible regions of France, the Dordogne. La Métairie is an attractive soft-yellow-stone manor set on a grassy plateau. Views from its tranquil hillside location are of the surrounding farmland and down over the Cingle de Trémolat, a scenic loop of the River Dordogne. The bedrooms and one apartment are tastefully appointed and benefit from the serenity of the rural setting. The bar is airy, decorated with white wicker furniture. The restaurant is intimate and very attractive with tapestry-covered chairs, and a handsome fireplace awaits you in the lounge. The owners hail from Switzerland where they also run an inn in the Bernese Oberland. They are becoming more and more committed to France, however, as they have also purchased the beautiful property La Grande Bastide in St. Paul de Vence, and while they do see the need to spend time at all three properties, they consider La Métairie their jewel. Relais la Métairie is found on a country road that winds along the hillside up from and between Mauzac and Trémolat. Without a very detailed map, it is difficult to find. However, it is worth the effort, as this is a lovely country inn with an idyllic, peaceful setting.
