Hôtel Ithurria

Aïnhoa is justifiably considered one of Basque’s most beautiful villages. The Hôtel Ithurria, once a country farm, offers unique tradition, charm, and character and is owned by a family who has perfected its welcome over three generations. The hotel has a first-class regional restaurant and the decor of the gorgeous dining room incorporates all that is cozy and welcoming from its original construction: heavy old beams, a large open fireplace, wonderful old tiled floors. Soft-colored patterned drapes hang at the paned windows and French doors, and tables are dressed with pretty linens and silver. A grandfather clock and lovely accent antiques complete a perfect picture. In the original home there are eight pretty, nicely appointed bedrooms with modern reproduction furnishings and renovated bathrooms. Room 4 is especially nice as it looks over the front garden and up to the mountains. At the back, built in the style of an old Basque farmhouse, is a wing of new rooms, all very similar in look to those in the main house but with the enhancement of air conditioning. Behind the inn stretches a pretty garden and beyond that you come to a lovely large pool and accompanying pool house with fitness room and sauna.
