Merchant‘s House Hotel, Tallinn
Karen's Review Of
Merchant‘s House Hotel:

It is no wonder that Tallinn has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is truly a jewel. This astonishingly well preserved medieval walled city positively radiates charm. It beckons one to stroll and savor its quaint squares, pretty parks, colorfully painted buildings, cobbled lanes, castles, churches, and museums. If you want to be right in the historic heart of town, Merchant’s Hotel is ideal. It could not be more central since it is on a small lane that leads into Tallinn’s fantastic, fairy-tale-like Town Hall Square. The hotel is built within two buildings:  14th-century and  16th-century merchants’ houses. Thus, it is not surprising to find that the accommodations are not your cookie-cutter style of hotel rooms which all look alike. Instead, each has its own personality and varies in size and configuration. Many of the guestrooms face onto a central courtyard. These are quieter than those facing the cobbled street. Although the furnishings are mostly contemporary in decor and a bit old-fashioned, they all offer air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, satellite TV, internet access, direct dial telephones and minibars. Adding to the hotel’s old world ambiance are wood-beamed ceilings, small passageways, stenciled ceilings and stained glass. In addition to its restaurant, just off the reception area there is a unique Ice Bar where drinks are served in glasses molded of real ice. In addition to its unrivalled location, the Merchant’s Hotel also has another great attribute that makes it special: the warmth and friendliness of its excellent staff.
