The Waves

I have used your guides for three trips (Scotland & twice to Ireland) with my cousin and we have loved your recommendations. I have just had a weekend break here in the UK and couldn't find anything in your list for the Whitby/Scarborough area so found a B&B on line which I'd like to recommend to you. It is The Waves, www.ScarboroughWaves.co.uk. It's on Esplanade Road above South Cliff. There is a great Italian restaurant two minutes away and the seaside and town are reached via a cable car at the end of the street. We had a small double room, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. This B&B has sourced local craftsmen for furniture, ceramics and breakfast foods which we thought was special. Kevern, the owner was on hand to offer advice and give us breakfast in the morning. He has just published a novel which was on sale along with local jams etc. I haven't started the book yet but it looks fun - about rock and roll- which fits with Kevern's juke box in the lounge. Scarborough is an old spa town which must get very busy in the summer. A cold weekend in March was nice too. We had a day trip to Whitby which was terrific.Hope this might be of use.
