Knockendarroch House:
Pitlochry developed in the latter half of the 19th century as a Highland health resort, following a visit from Queen Victoria herself. It remains today an attractive town of beautiful, stone built Victorian houses standing back from the wooded shores of Loch Faskally. Knockendarroch House sits above the rooftops of the town on its own little hill and gardens, affording views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Liz runs the hotel with great enthusiasm and warmth, and pays utmost attention to ensuring that her guests enjoy their stay. Dinner guests take in the splendid views as they peruse the three-course menu. The ornate stained-glass windows filter sunlight on to the staircase leading up to the bedrooms–two of the attic bedrooms have little balconies overlooking the town and the hills beyond. All the rooms are en-suite and are equipped with telephones, flat screen TVs, and coffee and tea making facilities. WiFi is available in the public areas. If you have difficulty with stairs, request the ground floor bedroom. Pitlochry has a year-round events calendar, ranging from major cycle events to horse trials. Don’t miss the repertoire of plays at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, which makes it possible for you to see as many as four plays in a three-night stay.
