Tyddyn Llan Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Tyddyn Llan is a delightful gray-stone country house set in the peaceful Vale of Edeyrnion at the eastern gateway to Snowdonia. A onetime shooting lodge for the Dukes of Westminster it is now a foodie haven and delightful country house hotel owned by the Webbs. Susan runs the front of house while Bryan produces culinary magic in the kitchen. Enjoy a seven course tasting menu or dine a la carte. At the time of our visit the menu included: griddled scallops with vegetable relish and rocket, loin of lamb with braised peppers and pannacotta with blood oranges. There are comfortable lounges with cozy nooks and a snug bar to relax in and enjoy before and after dinner drinks. Accommodation, decorated in restful colors, range in size from cozy to spacious. We were particularly impressed by the impressive ground floor suite with its large luxurious bathroom (handicap equipped) and french windows opening to a secluded garden patio. Between meals you can hike the old drovers’ roads and tramp into the nearby Berwyn Mountains. Steam trains run on a narrow track down one side of the lake. A more scenic train ride is from Blaenau Ffestiniog, a mining town where slate crags overhang the houses, to Porthmadog on the coast. On the way to the train visit Llechwedd slate caverns. Visit the walled city of Chester with its half-timbered shops.
