Arundell Arms Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Arundell Arms is a traditional fishing inn that provides its guests the opportunity to fish for salmon, trout, and sea trout in miles of river and a 3-acre lake. Owner Anne Voss-Bark, an expert fisherwoman, ably assisted by fly-fishing instructors and guides David Pilkington and Tim Smith, offers a variety of residential fishing courses. Fisherfolk gather in the morning in the hotel garden’s 250-year-old cock pit (a long-since retired cock-fighting arena), now the rod-and-tackle room. In the evening the catch of the day is displayed on a silver platter on the hall table. The traditional fishing inn has been extended over the years to encompass the village assembly rooms—now the elegant, tall-ceilinged dining room where you enjoy the most delectable of dinners—and the courthouse and jail—now the adjacent village pub. Cozy bedrooms, all but five of which face the garden, are found in a converted stable block and the main house. Non-fisherfolk can enjoy walking, riding, golf, and, of course, traditional cream teas. Pheasant and snipe shooting are offered in the winter. Sightseers head for Dartmoor and the north Cornish coast with the ruins of Tintagel Castle and the ancient fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac.
