Karen's Review Of This Property:

Fowey is one of Cornwall’s most picturesque villages. Former fishermen’s cottages and narrow streets step down the steep hillside to the river estuary where boats bob in the sheltered harbor. Sitting beside the water, The Marina Hotel was built in 1815 as a handsome townhouse on a residential street. It would be a shame to stay here and not have a bedroom with a view, the best being from rooms 4, 6 and 10 with French windows opening onto private balconies. At the top of the house, two lovely rooms capture the same outlook through little curved windows. Five rooms are found in Ashley house across the street. If you want to be beside the water, opt for the Focastle Suite, a wooden cabin on the lower patio with a nautical pine interior. While the bedroom and sitting room face the patio, French windows open to a private waterside terrace. Every table in the award-winning Restaurant Nathan Outlaw (named for the chef) looks out over the harbor and the menu always includes fish choices, such as turbot with leeks, mustard and brown shrimp. Guests often come to see the places where Fowey’s most illustrious former resident, Daphne du Maurier, set her most famous novels.

Directions: One mile after Lostwithiel (going south on A390) turn left onto B3269 to Fowey. Continue down into the narrow lanes of the village and turn right on the Esplanade. Park outside the hotel to unload, get parking directions, or use the hotel’s valet parking.
