Culloden House Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Beyond a vast expanse of immaculately mown lawn stands Culloden House, a beautiful Georgian mansion built to incorporate the ruins of Culloden Castle, Bonnie Prince Charlie’s headquarters before the fateful battle of 1746. Culloden House has always had a reputation for hospitality, a tradition that is continued today. After canapés in the clubby bar, dine in the massive dining room with its lofty ceiling, faux-marble columns, and original plaster medallions. Finish the evening with coffee and homemade chocolates in the enormous drawing room. Bedrooms and suites in the main house vary in size from vast to snug, with bathrooms that run the gamut from small and rather ordinary to large and luxurious. Several of the most elegant rooms have smaller bathrooms, so be sure to discuss your choice of room when you make reservations. Parties of friends traveling together may wish to stay in the luxurious Adam-style pavilion with its large bedrooms and bathrooms. Culloden battlefield, just down the road, is a “must visit” as are nearby Cawdor Castle and Loch Ness.
