Lavender

Lavender is a simply delightful little inn with a superb location, just a short stroll to the boutiques and restaurants in the quaint town of Yountville. The house was built in the 1850s by the Grigsby family, early pioneers who came across the continent by covered wagon. The two-story, gray building, which exudes the flavor of a country farmhouse, is charming in its simplicity. The house was totally renovated and completely modernized inside, but great care was taken to retain the shell of the building, which still maintains its authentic historic character. On the old-fashioned verandah you will find an inviting porch swing where guests can sit back and relax. In the grounds are three cottages providing six very private guestrooms, all with fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, air conditioning, and custom-made “old-world” furniture. Our favorites are rooms 5 and 6. The vibrant colors used throughout are reminiscent of Provence, a theme enhanced by nearly 200 feet of fragrant lavender planted in the garden, forming a seasonal garland of purple around the inn.
