From the deck of this comfortable mountain lodge you can look over the crystal-clear blue waters of Lake Tahoe to pines and high mountains—an exquisite view at any time and magnificent when the mountains are capped with snow and pink and purple hues paint a spectacular sunset. Lake Tahoe has long been one of our favorite spots in California and since we found Sunnyside we have a base from which to go skiing in winter, water skiing, sailing, and hiking in the High Sierra in summer, and revel in the beauty of the area year round. A meal at Sunnyside is a real pleasure, for not only do the dining room and deck have magnificent lake views but the food is most enjoyable. It would be a shame to stay in such a lovely spot and not have a view of the lake, which Sunnyside’s rooms offer you. Several bedrooms have wonderful river-stone fireplaces—what could be more romantic on a winter evening? Sunnyside has its own marina offering boat rentals and water skiing during the summer. In winter, discount tickets for nearby major ski resorts are available. If you are unable to bring your own mountain bike, you’ll find no shortage of places to rent one. Nevada casinos with their gambling and super-star entertainment are less than an hour’s drive away.
