Groveland Hotel

Groveland is a quaint Gold Rush town just half an hour from the west entrance to Yosemite, with Hwy 120 forming its one main street. It is a great place to overnight and take a day trip into the park. The Groveland Hotel offers the most comfortable accommodation in town. Fronting Main Street, the hotel is actually two buildings dating from 1849 and 1914 joined by a wraparound verandah. One building originated in the Gold Rush days, and the other got its start as a boarding house to accommodate the executives from San Francisco overseeing the building of the massive Hetch Hetchy water project. The Cellar Door dining room features elegant fare complimented by a comprehensive wine list personally selected by owner Peggy Mosley and stocked in her cellar of over 5,000 bottles. No two rooms are alike and all are decorated with a blend of antiques and attractive fabrics and their own jovial teddy bear. We especially liked Lyle’s Room, a queen bedded room with a large bay window. All rooms are uniquely or individually designed There are two rooms, one with a queen, the other with twin beds. In historic construction they made only one small window and therefore no views, but they are a great value for their price.
