Inn at Occidental:
Occidental nestles between the rugged Sonoma coast and the vineyards of the Russian River valley. The Inn at Occidental, a block east of the Bohemian Highway, dates from 1877. From the wraparound porch you enter the living room whose elegant furnishings are set in front of an inviting fireplace. The dining room where breakfast is served is located in the wine cellar. Breakfast offerings include freshly baked pastries, seasonal fruit, homemade granola, and such tempting delights as orange pancakes. Beautiful fir floors accented with lovely Oriental carpets are found throughout the living room. Each guestroom’s decor echoes the colors in the original art displayed in the room and feather beds topped with down comforters assure a wonderful night’s sleep. The inn has 16 rooms with appealing amenities such as a romantic fireplace, a hot tub in a private garden oasis, or a luxurious spa tub. A neighboring cottage is perfect for a family or long-term stay. Conference facilities are available. Jerry, Tina and their staff make this inn very special.

The Inn and our room were lovely. The nearby highway and the immediate area were a bit grim. There was some sort of horn that sounded a lot at night.
Karen Brown Research Staff: The inn is located on a small road just a few blocks up from the one street (we think cute) town of Occidental and miles distant from any true freeway. Also, can't explain the mysterious horn - but can't help but question if this review is confused with another property. Not to say that everyone ...
