Benbow Inn

We just stayed at the Benbow Inn visiting with our sister and brother in law who live in California. It was delightful and very comfortable. Our dinning experience was superb and we really enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the balmy weather.

We just stayed at the Benbow Inn visiting with our sister and brother in law who live in California. It was delightful and very comfortable. Our dinning experience was superb and we really enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the balmy weather.

A few general notes:

We did not use a bell boy and there is a lot of stairs to climb so I would recommend people use them.

We were in rooms 202 and 201 up the first flight of stairs. The rooms were small but very quiet and overlooked the charming tree covered terrace.

I loved the tudor pannelled dining room but we did not eat there.

The food and service in dining was first class, mains at $36 so not cheap dinner: Dinner plus wine was $205. Rooms were $160.00.

We saw there is the cottage wing wit private terraces there seemed to be lots of families with kids but we never heard them.

We loved the port provided in our rooms and thought it was a nice touch.

Our bathrooms were very tight they reminded us of a ships interior, but comfortable.

The thing that struck me was lots of people came down for their happy hour, drinks where between $3 to $4 and there was a large platter of fresh strawberries, melon, blueberries and crackers and cheese set out. It was such a nice atmosphere in the bar and the adjacent front door terrace.

We took the 2 min walk down to the Eel river and at least 4 couples were relaxing under the oak trees on the lawns , everyone seemed to be so relaxed .

There is an informality yet traditional elegance to the place.

We used the Karen Brown web site for the booking and were very impressed with the site. It was excellent to navigate and had just the links and information were just what we wanted.
