Simpson House Inn

The Simpson House Inn, a handsome, rosy-beige Victorian landmark with white and smoke-blue trim, is located on a quiet residential street only a five-minute walk from the historic downtown shopping and attractions of State Street. The lush surrounding gardens of the inn include an acre of lawn banded by beautiful flowerbeds and mature shade trees. An irresistible feature of the inn is a cheerful back porch under an arbor of draping wisteria with white wicker chairs and comfy pillows: a perfect niche to enjoy the garden. In the main house the sitting room and dining room are quite formal. However, the formality disappears upstairs in the charming guest chambers, each individually decorated with hand-printed Victorian wallpapers to suit different tastes—from feminine to a more tailored look. Four cottages in the back garden are beautifully decorated in rich fabrics and intimate with a Jacuzzi tub nestled right into a bay window. The barn also offers spacious accommodations, light and airy, with pine furnishings perfect against the exposed beams of the original barn. Each room enjoys niceties such as robes, fresh flowers, and bottled water. In the evenings sherry and local wine are offered with an extensive Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres buffet.
