Hotel Hirschen Schwarzenberg:
The Hotel Hirschen is a most attractive inn dating from 1757 situated in the historic and picturesque village center of Schwarzenberg. Within is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Austria—here you find pretty curtains contrasting against mellow wood-paneled walls, low ceilings with intricate pine paneling, fresh flowers on the tables, rustic wood-carved chairs, and an old ceramic stove in the corner. In addition, the Hotel Hirschen has four other beautiful dining rooms, each displaying its own cozy ambiance. Doing the decor justice, the food is delicious. The Hotel Hirschen is efficiently and warmly managed by Franz Fetz whose family has owned the hotel for many generations. The emphasis of this inn is the gourmet kitchen and its excellent wine cellar, but Herr Fetz also provides accommodations. We recommend you request one of the antique-style bedrooms in the original section. In recent years more guestrooms were added in an annex reached down a path behind the hotel. Ask about the hotel’s special packages for winter holidays, hiking, and cultural festivals.
Hotel Hirschen Schwarzenberg
Enjoy the beauty of Vorarlberg. Enjoy the exquisite ambiance. Enjoy the best wines. Enjoy the magnificent Gasthof Hirschen Schwarzenberg.
Schwarzenberg is a village in the Bregenzerwald, whose centre is actually protected as an historic landmark. Around the church, you will find beautifully preserved examples of alemannic-rural wooden architecture. One of the villages’ most beautiful houses is our very own Gasthof Hirschen. Since 1975 – when it was still a simple village inn – it has been remodeled step-by step into a 4-star hotel accompanied by the adjacent “Wälderhaus”. Since 1999, the Hirschen has belonged to the exclusive circle of Romantic Hotels & Restaurants International.
And since 2006, we are also members of the Historic Hotels of Europe. Our house has a long tradition, extending back to the year it was built, in 1601. By the middle of the 19th century, it was already so famous that the likes of King Max II of Bavaria and poet, Eduard Mörike, counted themselves amongst the guests of the Hirschen. The main house, built in the style of the rural baroque with inter-knitted timberwork, offers a warm and cozy atmosphere in its dining rooms, exquisite cuisine with a clear regional character, a banquet hall and a comfortable fireside room. Taken together, the two houses offer over 55 beds. Our room selection includes singles, doubles, apartments and a suite.
Our wine cellar offers select European vintages, with a strong emphasis on Austrian labels. The Hirschen also owns the “Alpe Rothenbach”, an area of alpine pastures complete with its own hut. Once guests have hiked out there, they can partake of fresh bread, milk and cheese. In 2007, Schwarzenberg commemorates its probably most famous daughter, Angelika Kauffmann. To mark this commemorative year, Schwarzenberg is hosting an exhibition at the newly remodeled museum, in collaboration with the Provincial Museum, from June until November 7.
Whether you want to enjoy the high moors and scents of hay in summer, or get your fill of skiing and tobogganing in winter, or if you wish to host a conference in our all-wood “Wälderhaus” with its sauna and underground parking garage. Here with us, you will be able to discover re-energizing tranquility amid a natural setting, cultural stimulation and the ideal ambiance for concentrated work.
