Seehotel Grüner Baum

Located right on the waterfront next to the boat dock on the main square of Hallstatt, the Seehotel Grüner Baum boasts a prime location. Although it is not new in offering accommodation, it is under new direction and has been in the process of complete renovation. A reception is just off one side of the entry and a charming country restaurant, the Kaiserstüberl, with pine paneling, tables, and chairs, is set under heavy old beams. The feeling of openness and spaciousness continues on through the hallway to another large, open restaurant spanned by windows with water views on three sides. The décor is attractive but simple with light pine furnishings and two tile mosaics mirroring each other—one symbolic of a green tree and the other a mural of fish. Accessed from the restaurant is a side salon and a door leading to stairs that descend to a graveled terrace. Twenty-three guestrooms are located up a handsome staircase with an old banister and wainscoting. Almost all the rooms have a balcony or terrace. On the first floor, there are three guestrooms with wide plank floors and pine beds topped with duvets that enjoy an expanse of terrace. Three rooms on the second floor have a private terrace, and one premium third-floor room enjoys an incredibly large private terrace. On each floor there are also some charming lower-priced rooms that overlook the charming market square.
