Awaiting guests of the country hotel and cultural inn, the “Strasserwirt”,  is relaxation and an absolute sense of wellbeing. The house, whose roots extend back to the 6th century AD, is 400 years old in its current form, having been owned by this family since 1837.

Fresh produce from the farmers of the Pustertal region continue to be the foundation, upon which chef Werner Gander constructs those creations which, according to the Tiroler Tageszeitung, have made him a “master of light cuisine”. In spite of his love for healthy, vitality-packed dishes, here in the old dining room dating from 1744, Gander still has kept a special place in his heart for traditional Tyrolean specialities, such as “Schlipfkrapfen” pasties and a “Villgrater” farmhouse roast. There is no doubt, the three-day “Strasserwirt Culinary Feel-Good Experience” has more than earned its name.

You also feel utterly at ease in the cosy rooms and the comfortable Egger-Lienz suites of this four-star hotel, whose décor has been selected with tender care, custom-tailored to each individual room. This love for interior design reflects a similar love for art and culture in general. For example, the hotel organises excursions to rarities of regional culture, such as the “Wegelater Saw”, still in working condition to this day. Or, on occasion, contemporary literary figures will gather in the “Literary Garden” to exchange ideas with one another
