Karen's Review Of This Property:
Women especially will relate to the history of the Hotel Traube, which begins, “Each generation (since 1586) has built and improved something in order to satisfy the guests with comfortable rooms as well as a good cuisine and drinks. This achievement was basically due to the fact that the Vergeiners (the owners) got their wives and housemothers from good landlord families.” Whether this successful operation is indeed due to the fact the Vergeiner men married well-endowed women or not, the fact remains that today the hotel is splendidly managed. When you first see the hotel, you might be disappointed because the side that faces the parking area is quite modern but inside, the old-world ambiance quickly asserts itself with liberal use of quality antiques. As you walk through the hotel and out the opposite entrance that faces Lienz’s quaint pedestrian shopping street, all hesitations are dispelled. This side of the hotel is charming—a rust-colored façade, windows trimmed in crisp white, dark-green shutters. The bedrooms are large and comfortably furnished. The hotel remains the best in Lienz for both tourists and business travelers.
