Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Post, which reopened in 2006 after extensive renovations, is an old postal station tucked into a small square just behind Lermoos’s picturesque church. The hotel (owned by the Dengg family since the 1700s) has an annex across the street, the Postschlössl, a handsome square mansion built by the wealthy postmaster and predating the Hotel Post by 200 years. Although the Postschlössl has great character (especially its wide, vaulted central hallway guarded by suits of armor), ask for accommodations in the Hotel Post because here, without a doubt, you will be treated to one of the finest views in all of Austria. You enter into a spacious lobby with walls accented by mirrors and old paintings, wood-beamed ceiling, and Oriental carpets on tiled floors. The newer section of the hotel maintains the same character, with lounges and dining rooms offering a rustic charm with white walls, golden-hued wooden furniture, and many antiques. The guestrooms are divided into two categories, the “Tyrol” and the “Zugspitze” rooms. Ask for one of the latter—these cost a bit more, but are worth it. Many of these simply furnished bedrooms have a balcony that captures a panoramic view across an expansive green meadow backdropped by the soaring mountain peaks. This same stunning vista is also the highlight of a large terrace behind the hotel. Small tables are set for dining or just a drink while guests soak in the magical splendor of this mountain paradise.
