Schlosshotel Goldener Engl:
At the heart of the Tyrol, the medieval walled town of Hall has lots of history and character. This is a region known for its salt mines but Hall’s true fame dates back to when the town was responsible for minting the Hapsburg coins. Today as a souvenir it is possible to have a coin made with your personal imprint. The Schlosshotel Goldener Engl is a charming inn centrally located for exploring the interesting, old town. Built into the town wall it enjoys easy access just off the main road that circles the wall as well as an entrance that opens directly onto the interior, cobbled street. It even boasts a narrow underground passage. Historic in its own right, the hostelry dates back over 700 years. Thick old walls embrace intimate public rooms with their weathered old tile floors and handsome old beams. Pretty fabrics and attractive pine furnishings compliment the olde-worlde ambiance. For dining guests will enjoy the lovely breakfast room, the Poschstube whose windows overlook the narrow streets of town, the Augustiner-Bierkeller (beer cellar) whose tables are set under vaulted ceilings or on the outside deck in the summer months or, the most beautiful room of all - The Stifterstube with its gorgeous wooden hand carved walls and ceiling tiles that date back 300 years! Regardless of where you dine you will enjoy a menu that reflects the excellence of the kitchen and delicious regional specialties. Completely renovated in 1998, the eighteen guestrooms enjoy the ambiance of old but the benefit of modern amenities and plumbing. Rooms vary from expansive suites to cozy rooms tucked into the confines of the original walls. Room 202 is a suite whose bedchamber with deep set windows, original floors and walls, is distanced from the entry sitting room by a charming narrow passage. I especially liked 501, a standard room with beams that continued from the room into the bath. This is a delightful inn with lots of atmosphere, comfort and charm at a very reasonable price. The staff are welcoming and strive to make your stay memorable.
Schlosshotel Goldener Engl
Hiding here in the midst of the town of Hall, one of the most interesting and best preserved cultural sites in the entire Alpine region, is one of the most beautiful and most comfortable hotels of its kind.
Lounges featuring Swiss stone pine, the warmth of tiled stoves, wonderfully delicious cuisine and unmistakable Tyrolean hospitality – this is what distinguishes the Schlosshotel Goldener Engl. From the moment you step inside this hotel, you are greeted by its very special atmosphere. Valuable fabrics, selected with abundant sensitivity and care, decorate the very individually appointed guest rooms, rooms which do, however, incorporate the most modern of hotel standards. The motto of the kitchen at the Schlosshotel is “Culture and Culinary Creations”, which excellently reflects the charm of this 700-year-old building and the utter joy of being able to spend some time here. Furthermore, the Goldener Engl offers us the Augustiner Keller, a restaurant in a vaulted cellar seating 70 and the “Bier-Verlies“ which seats 35. In summer, however, you are also able to enjoy the fine art of Bavarian brewing out in our beautiful guest gardens. The popular à la carte restaurant on the first floor consists of three dining rooms, treating you to Austrian specialities of the highest order, along with an array of other treats for the taste buds. And it goes without saying that we only feature fresh, seasonal produce.
From the first second on, the Schlosshotel Goldener Engl offers an unforgettable and incomparable atmosphere amid utterly exquisite spaces. Not without reason is this hotel regarded as “the Pearl of Tyrol”.
