Karen's Review Of This Property:
Badgastein is dotted with huge hotels, built to take advantage of the thermal water that makes this mountain town such a famous spa. To reach the Hoteldorf Grüner Baum, continue through town, following signs for the hotel: the road crosses the roaring river, hugs the side of the mountain, and then leaves Badgastein, winding through the mountains to a gorgeous little valley. Here, surrounded by mighty peaks, you find the Hotel Grüner Baum, which has been in the same family for several generations—it was built by Frau Blumschein’s entrepreneurial grandmother who had previously run the post office in Badgastein. She anticipated the growing popularity of spa vacations so she opened a small hotel in the mountains and piped Badgastein’s curative water to it. The hotel has expanded over the years and today offers 85 guestrooms. Within the village-like complex there are various lounges, exercise rooms, game rooms, outstanding spa facilities, children’s play room, and dining rooms (including a special part of a dining room for guests accompanied by their dogs). The attractive bedrooms, located in different chalet-style buildings on the property, are individually decorated. Some, such as suite 118, a beautiful room decorated in blues and yellows, have spectacular views of the mountains. The Hotel Grüner Baum is a deluxe hotel, large yet intimate, offering the charm and hospitality of a family resort.
