Schloss Dürnstein Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

Schloss Dürnstein is a magical hotel in a fairy-tale village. This incredibly lovely castle, built by princes in 1630, is blessed with a dazzling location. It nestles high on cliffs overlooking one of the most beautiful scenes in Austria—the Danube weaving its way toward Vienna through the vineyards of the Wachau. Stretching along the side of the hotel that faces the river is a garden terrace where tables are set under the trees for dining. On this romantic perch high above the Danube you could sit forever, enjoying outstanding food, sampling the hotel’s own delicious wines, and watching the river traffic. Tucked into another garden, enclosed by stone walls laced with roses, is a swimming pool. In addition, there is a beautiful large indoor pool with murals depicting scenes of the sea. Frau Thiery is in charge of the interior design and the decor throughout is outstanding, abounding with handsome antiques and carefully chosen fine fabrics. The lounges and individually decorated guestrooms all have a formal, gracious elegance. Although Schloss Dürnstein is a deluxe hotel, it is not pretentious in any way. The Thiery family personally manages the hotel and the well-trained staff reflects their warmth of hospitality. The Schloss Dürnstein truly sets the benchmark for excellence.
