Villa Bulfon

With its prominent address at Seepromenade 1, Velden’s oldest stately home is keenly aware of its obligation to preserve an almost 500 years-old tradition of hospitality, one which continues to be lived and breathed to the full.

Green inlets, wooden jetties, loungers set out beneath the shade of old trees, building façades overgrown by wild grapevines, airy balconies with views of the azure lake waters – here at Villa Bulfon, we truly have managed to preserve the lifestyle of days long past. The Villa has been tastefully adapted to the expectations of 21st-century guests, whilst remaining true to its tradition as an opulent country home.  Guests will discover both an old wooden chauffeur’s house, complete with garages housing vintage cars, but also our very own helicopter landing pad.

Now, as then, the family uses the Villa as a venue to host a variety of private occasions. Here in the heart of Velden, the Villa boasts an almost embarrassingly extravagant area of lakefront property, the most precious commodity here on the Wörthersee. Between the Villa and the beach, the guests of our 35 rooms have some 35,000 m2 of park grounds available for their enjoyment – each room has its own beach cabin, while each suite has its own cabana. Of course, there is also a shaded playground, a paddling and non-swimmers’ pool for the little ones, along with yet another small gourmet restaurant on the beach, plus much more.

A romantic park, a house with a rich tradition, good cuisine – these are the classic elements that contribute to true recreation, the avowed credo of Mrs. Uta Bulfon herself. You will look in vain for holiday entertainment reps.  Instead, as you stroll the gardens, you will probably encounter our old gardener, trimming the hedges and bushes with his hand shears. Which suits our guests perfectly. Candlelight dinner is served in our romantic inner courtyard, a spot where 16th-century travellers were want to change out their horses. In rain or cold weather, preference is given to our small restaurant. Weddings and larger festivities are held in the banquet hall, which was constructed in the 19th century as a separate building and which, for many years, served as the home of the Velden Casino. And where better to wind down the evening, than in our warm, friendly bar by the light of a crackling wood fire.
