Hotel See Villa

The See Villa is an intimate inn with a prime, lakefront position in the quaint town of Millstatt. From first glance the hotel, which looks like a private mansion, is exceptionally appealing—a two-story yellow building highlighted by white trim, green shutters, and a steeply pitched roof accented by perky gables and two jaunty, whimsical turrets. An expansive terrace set with tables and chairs shaded by pretty yellow umbrellas stretches in front of the villa, an idyllic spot for dining. There is a more formal restaurant in a new wing of the house, a bright and cheerful room with floor-to-ceiling French windows enclosing two sides. The lounge and bar exude the ambiance of a private home with Oriental carpets, tapestries on the walls, furniture upholstered with elegant fabrics, stained-glass windows, and antique accents. A carved wooden staircase leads upstairs to the attractive guestrooms, each individually decorated as in a private home. Another bonus of the See Villa is its lakeside park with lounge chairs set on the lawn. Here guests come to relax in the sun, swim off the pier, or take advantage of water sports. Adjacent to the park is a boathouse with sauna, steam bath, massage room, and solarium.

Situated in a well-kept park directly at the shores of Lake Millstätter See, the See Villa is a hotel for individualists. The hotel complex with a garden for strolling, a Russian skittle alley and a piano pavilion was built in 1884 by the famous architects, Mayreder and Köchlin. Since 1976, the current owner has been making every effort to combine the hotel’s charm with modern luxury. The flair of this 120 year old hotel can be best experienced while enjoying an iced coffee on the large lakeside terrace in the afternoon or a good bottle of wine by candlelight in the evening. The culinary treats offered are a delight for the palate as is the large sunbathing lawn a delight for the soul. Relaxation is also provided in the sauna or steam bath, with a massage, on our two green set tennis courts or the Millstätter See golf course, only 5 minutes from our hotel, for which we grant reduced green fees and preferential tee-off times. The hiking and cycling paths around the lake complete the offer for a wonderful summer holiday.
