Overview:

Located in the middle of Germany, the state of Thüringen from 1945 until 1990 was under Soviet occupation. After years of neglect, more and more buildings have been cleaned of their grime and others freshly painted.

In our itinerary, 'Exploring East & Middle Germany', we travel through some of the historic towns of Thüringen. Visit sights such as Wartburg, one of Europe's finest Romanesque castles, in the town of Eisenach on the edge of the Thuringia Forest. Marvel at the triple-spired Dom in extremely colorful heart of the old town of Erfurt and be treated to the extremely picturesque city of Weimar. Even though painful, a trip to the  historic concentration camp of Buchenwald outside of Weimar should be added to your itinerary.
