California
San Diego & Vicinity
Overview:
San Diego is the quintessential outdoor person's mecca. The locals all appear fit and tan as well they should since the weather along the San Diego coast promotes outdoor activities throughout the year. Many of these activities are centered around the beaches and include surfing, swimming, bicycling, running or for those so inclined-simply walking and enjoying the natural beauty of the ocean. Besides the ocean, San Diego offers a tremendous number of man-made attractions such as Sea World, the world famous San Diego Zoo, the museums of Balboa Park, the historical Old Town and for the child in all of us, Legoland. A trip to San Diego would be remiss without a visit to the ritzy town of La Jolla and a quick stop for a drink at the Hotel Del Coronado in the City of Coronado. If time allows, venture east to the small town of Julian for a day trip or an overnight stay at the Orchard Hill County Inn. A fun place to stop any time of the year, Julian really comes to life in the fall when the apple harvest takes place. Every restaurant in town has their own wonderful recipe for apple pie.
Our itinerary, 'Leisurely Loop of Southern California', gives the 'must sees and dos' for the traveler to the San Diego region. We also offer descriptions of the best bed and breakfasts, inns and small hotels in the area in our accommodation section.
