The Scheda family have been members of the Slow food movement since it was first founded in Rome and they participate in one way or another in the lessons, the meals, the tastings or the visits. We spent 2 nights with Maureen Scheda at la Torretta on Casperia. it is a small but charming place, but not for those who cannot manage trekking up levels of stairs through the village, but for who that can, well worth it. Maureen is an ex travel guide and really knows the ins and outs of travel and situations that may confront tourists. The restaurant just a short walk from La Torretta "Los Amicis" on a nice terrace is excellent and reasonable. Maureen can recommend several other fine restauran...

We stayed with Maureen and Roberto for seven full days and it was one of the most relaxing and amazing trips we’ve ever taken. They are the most warm, welcoming and friendly people we’ve known. We know have a 2 year old son and are eager to take him to Casperia for his first trip to Italy. We took a significant number of photos showing the beauty of the surrounding countryside, as well as our day trips to Orvieto and Assisi--see http://www.flickr.com/photos/jspies/sets/72157601419629737/ for t...
