CONNIE FAIRBANKS

Home Chef and Cookbook Author

Connie, the home chef, is the author of Scratch ThatTM Seasonal Menus and Perfect Pairings. Scratch That is written for home chefs as it is organized into seasonal menus with wine pairings, and many color photos.  All recipes are made from scratch with fresh produce and no cans, bottles, tubs, and tubes.   With attention to graphic design, recipes are easy to follow, and mostly one page.

Connie appears frequently on Chicago television doing cooking segments using seasonal ingredients, and is a guest on Midwest radio segments discussing making meals from scratch.  Connie began cooking on her rural Kansas farm as soon as she could read.  Her mom says her eyes were always in a cookbook, thinking up some new dish for dinner.  She snips fresh herbs from her rooftop garden to add instant flavor to soups and salads, and cooks a new vegetable every week.  In her spare time, she sings in a Gospel Choir, has been a volunteer tutor for 14 years, and gardens indoors and out, always preparing for the next Chicago winter.

Her advice to the home chef reflects it all:

Have fun! Plan ahead! Experiment! Be curious and keep learning! Bon appetit!
