User Review Of This City:
Unfortunately we stayed in Lugano, which I would avoid in the future unless you like rude service and high prices. Luckily we drove around Lake Maggiore and discovered Ascano. It’s a small waterfront town with beautiful shops, a gorgeous location and a wonderful energy. We happened upon a wine tasting along the waterfront sponsored by local vineyards to support Ascano’s water polo club...an excellent opportunity to discover great wines that are only available locally due to limited production. If you have a car, drive the waterfront road down to Lugano. Lots of interesting small towns to explore and great architecture. If you must "do" Lugano, take a ferry ride and visit some of the small villages around the lake.
