In the southeastern corner of Switzerland, the Bernina Pass goes over the mountains and drops down into the beautiful Poschiavo Valley. The only significant town along the way is Poschiavo, which is a gem. This medieval town, unspoiled by time, has many historic buildings, fine churches, and beautiful old mansions. The border with Italy is just a few kilometers to the south, which undoubtedly gives the town its romantic Italian flavor.
