El Toboso

Famous for being the literary home town of Dulcinea, lover of Don Quixote de La Mancha, El Toboso has a great many charming corners and traditional buildings of masonry and whitewashed walls. The town contains the House of Dulcinea, a traditional La Mancha structure from the 16th century, which has been magnificently renovated. It has a stately main front with two coats of arms and contains a museum of tools of ethnological value and of everyday use in La Manch life. The furniture is from the 17th century, the time of Don Quixote. Its courtyard contains one of the biggest oil presses known in the province of Toledo. Other buildings of interest are the Trinitarian convent, from the 16th century; the parish church of San Antonio Abad, in the pointed Gothic style of the 15th century, with 17th-century additions; the Franciscan Convent, from the 16th century and restored in the 20th century, which is Renaissance; and the Cervantes Museum, which contains an interesting collection of editions of Don Quixote in different languages and signed by illustrious figures from all over the world.
