Ascoli Piceno

Ascoli Piceno is a picturesque medieval town in the southern Marche Region. It is also known as the ’town of travertine’, due to the variety of beautiful buildings and towers built in the local white travertine marble stone. A real jewel is Piazza del Popolo, the main square and a real masterpiece of the Renaissance art. The Piazza del Popolo is also home of charming Cafè Meletti, which is known for its anisette liqueur and other anisette-flavored delicacies, including espresso. The wood floors, high ceilings, massive windows, and ornate decor give the cafe a bright and airy feeling, as well as the illusion that visitors have stepped back a century.
