Review Of This City:

The town of Gorey stands on a gentle slope, with the Wicklow Mountains in the background, its broad clean streets testify to the commercial ideals of its earlier founders. Gorey was first identified as a centre in the Norman records of 1296. In its time, Gorey has known the triumph and tragedy of war, notably it played a leading role in the bloody Rebellion of 1798. The town’s coat of arms exists to to this day, granted in 1619. Gorey is a market town,with lots of Pubs and restaurants, all the joint Supermarkets, beautiful upmarket shops, and is only 3. miles from the coast and seaside resort of picturesque Courtown Harbour. 1. hour drive from Dublin, and Rosslare Harbour, 40. Mins Wexford.

Gorey, the chief town of North Wexford, is the first major town that greets the tourist to County Wexford as he travels on the main Dublin-Wexford route.
