Les Baux de Provence

Les Baux de Provence is a charming Provençal village.(The mineral bauxite was discovered here and derives its name from the town.) The village appears to be a continuation of the rocky spur from which it rises. This site has been occupied for the past 5,000 years, and is now visited by more than a million visitors every year. A number of craft shops, inviting crêperies, and ice cream vendors are tucked away along the village streets. From Les Baux you have splendid views of the area.

The village of Les Baux possesses an incredibly rich architectural heritage. Perched on a rocky spur, the citadel overlooks beautiful country side with olive groves and vineyards. Les Baux is also a classified resort ’Site remarquable du Goût’ and ’Plus Beaux Villages de France’. Towering over the village, the site of the Castle is one of the most outstanding places of interest in Provence and is listed as a Historic Monument.
