Riquewihr

Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in Alsace, is completely enclosed by tall, protective walls and encircled by vineyards. It is easy to understand why this picturesque spot is a magnet for visitors. Within the walls of this picture-book village, the narrow pedestrian streets are lined with ancient brick-and-timber houses built to produce wine on the ground floor while the family lived upstairs. Signs beckon you into cobbled courtyards to sample the vintners’ produce, and cafés and restaurants spill onto the streets.
