Located above the timberline, Kleine Scheidegg is just a cluster of buildings hugging the windswept plateau. The wide, sweeping vistas of the rugged peaks of the Eiger, the Mönch, and the Jungfrau are overpowering. If the day is sunny, it is great fun to sit out on the open terrace with a beer and a bratwurst while soaking in the splendor of the mountains and watching tourists set off on the tiny train that soon disappears as it tunnels into the glacier.
